Whether you’re a music lover, an art aficionado, or an all-around cultural connoisseur,
Winter Park offers a bevy of opportunities to enjoy the arts. And in just a few days, our city
will celebrate the return of a perennial favorite, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.
One of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious outdoor art festivals, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is ranked the #6 best art fair nationwide (and #1 in the South). Here at The Mayflower, we’re proud to be a long-time patron of the event, which takes place just a few minutes from our campus.
Many of our residents are also avid attendees. Steph Nagelson, a talented painter herself, enjoys viewing pieces from unfamiliar and emerging artists. “They have amazing work,” she says. “Artists from all over the country come here.”
In fact, the festival features nearly 900 talented participants – chosen from a worldwide pool of applicants – along with thousands of works of art. Visitors can chat with artists about their creations, while meandering through the shady oaks in beautiful Central Park and taking in the ambience of Park Avenue, the area’s elegant shopping and dining district.
If you’re heading to this year’s festival – which takes place Friday, March 18 – Sunday, March 20, 2022 – here’s what to look for:
- Variety galore. The event features an array of fine arts and crafts, including clay sculpture, wood carving, jewelry, printmaking, and glasswork alongside traditional painting, mixed media, and photography.
- Music, food, and fresh air. Soft, contemporary music will be played in North Central Park throughout the event; local restaurants and vendors will be open for indoor and outdoor dining. (The event will take place rain or shine, so be sure to prepare for the weather.)
- Park Avenue – and beyond. In addition to its quaint boutiques and trendy restaurants, downtown Winter Park offers a variety of sightseeing opportunities close by: the Morse Museum’s world-class Tiffany collection, the historic architecture of Rollins College, and the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Garden, to name just a few.
Combining big-city culture and small-town charm, Winter Park offers cuisine, art, and beauty in abundance. And all of it is less than three miles from The Mayflower.
Here, you’ll find the best of all worlds: a spectacular location, luxury amenities, a vibrant lifestyle, and a selection of stylish (and surprisingly affordable) apartments. When you’re ready to live with fewer worries, more opportunities to enjoy life, and more freedom, pay us a visit – and we’ll be ready to welcome you home.
