En Pointe: Orlando Ballet Partners With The Mayflower for a Season of Dance!

“Dance,” it’s said, “is music made visible.” A masterful ballet has the power to stir the spirit and kindle the imagination – combining sound, story, and breathtaking grace to create performances that have been treasured for centuries.

And here at The Mayflower at Winter Park, we’ve been privileged to partner with the Orlando Ballet to bring the beauty of dance right to our campus—empowering residents to delve into the vibrant tradition of ballet and enjoy exclusive opportunities during the company’s production of Giselle this spring.

Here’s what’s on the program:

• A Deep Dive into Dance Appreciation. For the opening act, Mayflower residents welcomed Christopher Alloways-Ramsey, Orlando Ballet’s Director of Education, for a conversation about the history of ballet in Central Florida and expert insights into the story and artistry of Giselle.‍
• Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Viewing. Before the show begins, the Orlando Ballet Centre will host a private rehearsal viewing available only to Mayflower residents. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a sneak peek of the show and admire the precision and passion with which these professional dancers perfect every step.
• Live Ballet at a Discount. With the stage set, Mayflower residents can secure discounted tickets to see the actual performance on May 4, the final day of its four-day run. The tragic romance between Giselle, a dance-loving peasant girl, and her lover, the disguised nobleman Count Albrecht, is known for its gripping drama and ethereal beauty.
• ‍Dance in Action.  When the curtains close on Giselle, The Mayflower’s season will still be in full swing. In addition to our existing repertoire of classes in ballroom dance, ballet barre, and globally inspired styles, our Wellness team is partnering with the Orlando Ballet to offer “Gentle BeMoved,” special eight-week gentle dance course focused on whole-body wellness, expression, and inspiration.
