On a picture-perfect day in February, The Mayflower officially broke ground on Bristol Landing, beginning a new chapter in the community’s history.
Community leaders and dignitaries gathered for a ceremony broadcast on Facebook to celebrate the occasion – and the strategic vision it represents. In the words of guest speaker Steve Bahmer, President and CEO of LeadingAge Florida, it was a “landmark event – an ambitious, exciting project that places the Mayflower firmly in the vanguard of senior living in Florida.”
As the head of the only association in the state representing the entire continuum of care for aging-related services, Bahmer knows better than most what today’s seniors are looking for.
“Today’s and tomorrow’s older adults are seeking exceptional healthcare, enhanced opportunities for engagement, and wellness activities that stimulate mind, body, and spirit,” he said. “In addition, seniors are looking to take advantage of the opportunities that Life Plan Communities can offer to build and strengthen their social networks.”
At The Mayflower, a holistic approach is nothing new – we’ve always worked to create an environment that promotes independence, well-being, and quality of life. From a variety of wellness programs and activities to a Fitness Center, heated pool and outdoor walking trails, we offer a lifestyle that can add years to your life … and life to your years.
At Bristol Landing, we’re taking that commitment to the next level. Tailored to the needs and expectations of the next generation of older adults, the new neighborhood will feature brand-new, elegant Waterside Residences and a 9,800-sq.-ft. Club House and Bistro, and an 84,842-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art Health Center.
According to Bahmer, market forces are converging with the evolving expectations of older adults to drive new design concepts, new care-delivery models, and new options … and there’s no better example of that than the upcoming Health Center.
“In the Health Center’s design – a true neighborhood model with private rooms, new social spaces and multiple dining options, among other features – Bristol Landing more than achieves all those goals for current residents and for those who will someday call it their home,” he says. “It demonstrates The Mayflower’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for its residents.”
With construction now underway, the Health Center is expected to be completed in about 18 months. For more details – or to watch the groundbreaking ceremony – be sure to visit The Mayflower’s Facebook page.
