When planning an expansion of their community, Mayflower leaders envisioned a brand-new neighborhood that would incorporate cutting-edge trends and best practices to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s older adults.
Now, that vision is becoming reality. Construction has begun on the first phase of the largest expansion in Mayflower history: the 84,842-sq.-ft., state-of-the-art Health Center in our new neighborhood, Bristol Landing.
“The Health Center was the catalyst for our entire strategic plan,” says Steve Kramer, President and CEO. “We chose to construct it first, because it addresses an immediate need for memory support and private rooms – and it will further enhance the high-quality service our community provides for both current and future residents.”
Serving as an anchor for the Bristol Landing neighborhood, the four-story Health Center will offer a continuum of care in an environment that’s inviting and homelike:
- In our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, spacious, all-private rooms will be organized into small “households” – each with common amenity spaces, such as intimate living rooms, centralized parlors, and small dining areas with a shared sunroom.
- With a focus on hospitality and an emphasis on privacy, the short-term Rehab Center will look and feel distinctively different. Residents who are rehabbing after a joint replacement or accident, for example, will experience a sophisticated, hotel-like ambience, with special features like a marketplace-style dining venue with multiple seating options.
- Designed for holistic wellness, the new Memory Support area includes calming finishes, special designs for wayfinding, memory vignettes for independent or group activities, and a secure memory garden overlooking the pond.
