When Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy 74 years ago, they changed the course of World War II and made history.
Today, we honor one Mayflower resident who has committed his life to preserving that history for generations to come. General John C. Raaen led troops into battle on Omaha Beach during a long and distinguished military career. At age 96, he is among fewer than 10,000 living D-Day veterans and a sought-after military historian.
General Raaen’s courage and contributions inspire all of us at The Mayflower. We thank him and countless other veterans for their service to our country.
